How to Get A JobResume

JOBAAJ EASY RESUME FORMAT GUIDE FOR 2021

Do you also go blank when you’re trying to write your resume and getting countered in the head by questions like, “What is the format?”, “What do I include?” and after brainstorming for hours you still feel like something’s missing?

Here is our guide to what you should include on your resume.

But first, you should know what exactly is a resume.

“A resume acts as a complete overview of a potential candidate to the recruiter and it contains everything employers need to know if you’re a good fit for the job opening. It also contains your previous education and achievements.”

Back to the main subject –

You might have a vague idea of “must-have” sections of resume which are mainly Name and contact info, summary, skills, education, and achievements but here’s the complete format in chronological order below:

1. Name and contact information

This section should include your name, phone number, and email address at least and you can also include a link to your online portfolio or a website that showcases your work.

It is common to use your name as the title of the page so that recruiter can easily identify your name and contact first.

2. Objective / Summary

• Objective: Your objective should be short and concise, at most one to two sentences that briefly explain who you are and your qualification. So, it is recommended to carefully review the job description for keywords so that you can include your relevant technical and soft skills.

• Summary: With a few exceptions, a Summary section generally does little for your resume apart from duplicating your achievements and wasting space. Your resume is already meant to be a concise summary of your achievements. There’s no need to re-summarize it in paragraph form. The only real exception to this is if you need to add important information that is not already in another section of your resume. For example, if you’re looking to completely change your career & role (e.g. moving from software engineering to marketing), you could use 2-6 lines to direct a recruiter to the specific roles you are looking for. If you do decide to include a summary, ensure that it is not filled with fluffy, subjective buzzwords like “team player”.

3. Education

It is recommended to add your most recent education first and then the previous education in chronological order. Consider only adding education that makes sense for your career. College graduated might not add their high school information as it’s no longer relevant to the career experience.

4. Work Experience

This section can act as your opportunity to showcase the value you have provided to former recruiters. You should begin with the most recent job and list all of your most recent work experiences.

In case you have no job experience, you should list any employment you had, even it is not relevant. It will give an idea to the employers to what kind of work is a good match for you, as soft skills are really valuable because they are transferrable from one industry to another easily.

5. List of skills and certification.

This section should include your relevant hard skills and soft skills. You can also include the certificates and tools you have mastered relevant to the job description.

In case you are a fresher and you’re confused about the relevant skill, a job description might come in handy for you to learn only those skills and certifications that the employer demands.

NOTE: –

Your resume is the first document that will decide whether you are a good fit for the job description or not. A well-tailored resume could help you to get recognition by recruiters.

You should also include volunteer work and accomplishments, it might help create a better picture of who you are as an individual.

So, take as much time and revisions as it takes to make a resume that briefly shows the best of you. You can reach out to your seniors for them to review and give you feedback.
